Introduction to Sunday’s Hymns: January 24, 2021

On Thursday, January 21, Canon Michael Kleinschmidt introduced the hymns that will be sing at the livestream service of Holy Eucharist this Sunday, January 24, 2021, The Third Sunday after the Epiphany. This introduction was presented live on Facebook.

The hymns discussed are:

  • "How wondrous and great" [Hymn #533]
  • "O Master, let me walk with thee" [Hymn #659]
  • "Put down your nets and follow me" [WLP #807, but sung to the tune "Martyrdom"]

...plus a few words about John's upcoming recital on the Fritts organ in Thomsen Chapel, 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 29.

    So wonderfully rich and informative! Especially loved Greg’s comments contrasting the two versions of “O Master let me walk with thee”. The less familiar tune of de Tar sheds an entirely different perspective on the text. Many thanks for this uplifting insight to these wonderful hymns!
