40s/50s Spiritual Conversations: Parable of the Sower

SUNDAY, MARCH 17, 12:30 P.M. (after the 11 am service), Leffler Living Room

Join in for the first 40s/50s Spiritual Conversation with the Rev. Canon Linzi Stahlecker. We will be using the book Parable of the Sower by Octavia E. Butler as the basis of our discussion. Written in 1993, it takes place in a post-apocalyptic 2024 where a young girl who suffers from hyper-empathy must protect her family and loved ones from the breakdown of society around them, ultimately resulting in the founding of a new faith and community. It explores such currently relevant topics as global climate change, economic crises, belief in God, and how we live together as a society. Please feel welcome to attend even if you are not able to read the book as we will be using it as a jumping off point for a more general discussion about how we might approach these issues through the lens of our faith and spirituality.
