TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY, JULY 5 & 6, 7:30-8:30 P.M., Cathedral Nave
Please note: This Advent liturgy is being offered twice in July, because the cathedral nave cannot accommodate all the American Guild of Organists conference participants at once. Both services will be identical.
Saint Mark’s presents its famous annual Advent service of “O Antiphons,” featuring processions, hymnody, Peter Hallock’s “O Antiphons,” and the world premiere of “O Clavis David,” an Advent composition by local composer William White.
Mr. White’s “O Clavis David,” for SATB choir and organ, is a wonderful addition to the “O Antiphon” repertoire, melding together texts from the Hebrew Scriptures as well as from Elizabeth Hooten, the first female Quaker preacher.
An Organ Prelude by the winner of the 2022 NYACOP competition begins at 7:20 p.m.
A concert by organist Isabelle Demers follows the liturgy, 8:45-9:45 p.m.
