SUMMARY:Godly Play
DESCRIPTION:FIRST AND THIRD SUNDAY OF THE MONTH\, SEPTEMBER–JUNE (except in November 2025 and April 2026\, when it will meet on the second and third Sundays)\, 10–11 A.M.\, in the Godly Play classrooms on the 2nd floor of the St. Nicholas Bldg.  \nBetween services on Sunday mornings\, we create space for children from preschool through elementary school (age 3 up to 5th grade) to deeply experience the texts and stories of the Bible that make us Christian people and form our faith\, and also to grow in community with each other and caring adults. Using steadfastly non-digital modalities\, we tell the stories and then make space for the children to make the stories their own for life by using the materials or art to expand\, retell\, and experience the stories in their own ways. For example\, it’s magical to watch children self-organize to collectively create a “crucifixion and Easter scape” by finding and arranging materials from the room to arrange in a box of sand to exemplify all of Holy Week! We use the Godly Play curriculum. Class sessions are held generally on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month during the school year. \nLearn more and find a complete schedule and registration link here. \n\nParents and Toddlers Room\nWhenever Godly Play is being offered on Sunday morning on the second floor of the St Nicholas Bldg\, the Parents and Toddlers Room is open and available at the same time on the first floor. This is for kids under three\, and parents must remain with their children. A room host (with Safe Church training) is on hand to welcome you and your little one\, along with age appropriate toys and books\, a carpet for crawlers\, and a table and chairs. Please contact Canon Barrie for more information or to help support this ministry: wbarrie@saintmarks.org

SUMMARY:Radix Opening Plenary: Prophetic Voices in Scripture
DESCRIPTION:OPENING PLENARY: SUNDAY\, APRIL 19\, 2026\, 7 P.M.\, via Zoom\, no registration required \nWhile the deadline for registering to participate in a Radix 16 small group has passed\, all are warmly invited to join the Radix Planning Team for a plenary conversation on Sunday\, April 19 from 7-8 pm on Zoom only as we discuss the theme\, Prophetic Voices in Scripture\, and its relevance for us now. \nIn the introduction to his 2025 book\, The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage\, Franciscan priest Richard Rohr describes the biblical prophets this way: “Besides being truth tellers\, they were radical change agents\, messengers of divine revelation\, teachers of a moral alternative\, and deconstructors of every prevailing order. Both Isaiah 21 and Ezekiel 3 describe a prophet as a ‘sentry’ or a ‘watcher\,’ whose job is to hold Israel maddeningly honest\, and to stop them from relying on arms\, money\, lies\, and power to keep themselves safe and in control.” \nThe role of the prophet then and now is not to engage a political side but to hold society accountable to those who are most vulnerable\, to lament how we have failed God and each other\, and to point to a better way forward. \nThe prophet Micah speaking to the people of Israel in a time of false prophets\, corrupt leaders\, and a misled people reminds us that we already know what God wants most. \n“He has told you\, human one\, what is good and what the Lord requires from you: to do justice\, embrace faithful love\, and walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8 (CEB) \nWe welcome your engagement with us on this timely topic! \n🔗 Plenary Zoom link (open to all)

SUMMARY:Organ by Night (10:10 p.m)
DESCRIPTION:THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH\, 10:10 P.M. (immediately following Compline)\, in the cathedral nave and in the organ loft \nThe tradition of informal mini-concerts on the Flentrop following Compline have introduced generations of Seattleites to the power and beauty of a real pipe organ. All are welcome to listen in the nave\, or join the organist in the loft to see what playing an instrument of this size is really like. (The radio program The Organ Loft\, which airs on KING-FM immediately following Compline each week\, was inspired by this tradition.) A Q&A in the loft usually follows the performance. \nFind a list of past and upcoming recitalists here. \nThe new iteration of this offering\, called Organ by Night\, will be offered once a month\, on the third Sunday of each month.

SUMMARY:Contemplative Prayer
DESCRIPTION:MOST TUESDAYS\, 7–8 P.M.\, in the cathedral nave \nNOTE: Contemplative Prayer is suspended when the monthly Taizé service is offered in the nave instead. Contemplative Prayer is also occasionally suspended or relocated on other Tuesdays due to other events and conflicts in the nave.  \n \nTuesday evening Contemplative Prayer gatherings begin with a period of silent meditation\, followed by discussions on a variety of contemplative practices including Centering Prayer \nThis time of meditative prayer is open to anyone who yearns for a time to simply sit in the presence of the Divine—whether you sit regularly and miss doing it with others\, are curious\, or think you can’t do it\, come\, sit together and talk about it. There is no doing it right or wrong; there is only doing it. Read more here. \nThese sessions will be led by Phil Fox Rose\, who was introduced to centering prayer by Cynthia Bourgeault in the early 90s and has been practicing and sharing it ever since. We’ll telescope back in time to the early days of Christianity in Britain and hold up to the light the treasures of this ancient faith we still hold and cherish.
