DESCRIPTION:FIRST AND THIRD SUNDAYS OF THE MONTH\, 10–11 A.M.\, in the St Nicholas Building\, 2nd floor \nNote: Godly Play will NOT meet on November 3\, due to the Baptism celebration on All Saints’ Sunday. It will meet on the second Sunday of the months\, November 10\, instead. It will them meet on November 17 as usual. \nDeveloped over the course of the last 40 years\, Godly Play is a Montessori-informed curriculum and method of exploring the sacred stories and practices of our religious tradition in a way that creates a space for “listening to God with children.” \nRegular Godly Play gatherings for kids age 3 and up are offered on the first and third Sundays of the month in the 10 a.m. hour. Saint Mark’s offers two Godly Play groups: the Weavers’ Class (age 3 to grade 2) and the Fishers’ Class (grades 3 to 5). Back in the 1600s and 1700s\, English country folk dancing emerged as a popular way to mingle with your neighbors\, enjoy live music\, and dance away the late evening hours. Here in Seattle\, dances are welcoming to all levels\, with musicians playing lively and lyrical music. Anyone can learn to dance\, and all dances are called by a dance leader (similar to square dancing). No need to bring a partner! If you can line-dance\, you can English dance! DESCRIPTION:OPENING PLENARY: SUNDAY\, OCTOBER 20\, 7–8 P.M.\, online via Zoom only \nSMALL GROUPS MEET: ONCE A WEEK STARTING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 21\, THROUGH NOVEMBER 27\, via Zoom or in person\, registration required \nLaunched in January 0f 2020\, The Radix Project has creates a unique opportunity for hundreds of participants to gather in small groups\, share stories\, reflect on Holy Scripture and sacred art\, and pray for one another with intention. This fall’s iteration\, the thirteenth since its launch\, will be on the subject of peacemaking. In this time when our hearts long for peace in the world\, the next Radix series will look to scripture passages that address what is means to be peacemakers\, and the nature of peace in its various forms—brokered peace\, imperial “peace\,” inner peace\, and the nature of “shalom” which is the replete peace of God to which the world leans in a long\, hopeful arc. (immediately following Compline)\, in the cathedral nave and in the organ loft \nThe tradition of informal mini-concerts on the Flentrop following Compline have introduced generations of Seattleites to the power and beauty of a real pipe organ. All are welcome to listen in the nave\, or join the organist in the loft to see what playing an instrument of this size is really like. (The radio program The Organ Loft\, which airs on KING-FM immediately following Compline each week\, was inspired by this tradition.) A Q&A in the loft usually follows the performance. \nFind a list of past and upcoming recitalists here. \nThe new iteration of this offering\, called Organ by Night\, will be offered once a month\, on the third Sunday of each month.
