SUMMARY:United We Stand: An Interreligious Prayer Vigil on the Eve of Elections
DESCRIPTION:MONDAY\, NOVEMBER 4\, 7–8 P.M.\, in the cathedral nave and livestreamed \n \nIn this time of trial and struggle\, as we confront challenges to our civil society and our body politic\, we are at a crossroads of conscience. And though the voices of vitriol and extremism often resound loudly\, it is the judicious wisdom of resilient and courageous peacemakers who will lead us through this crisis. Prayerful reflection stands as a hopeful response to the static of cynicism. \nJoin local religious leaders and fellow citizens who will gather in Seattle’s Saint Mark’s Cathedral at this important juncture of our nation’s history. All are invited to join in this brief non-partisan interfaith service of hope\, either in-person or via livestream. On the cusp of the exercise of our most essential civil right\, we ask you to embrace this moment of contemplation and connection\, as we affirm the principles that transcend our differences\, and the common cause that will bind the wounds of this great nation. \nA flyer can be downloaded here. \nSee the service leaflet here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe liturgy will include participants representing: \n\nSaint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral\nSt. James Roman Catholic Cathedral\nClear Mountain Buddhist Community\nTemple DeHirsch Sinai\nFirst African Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle\nZoroastrian Society of Washington State\nUniversity Unitarian Church\nthe Northwest Washington Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America\nthe Episcopal Diocese of Olympia\nthe Interfaith Community Sanctuary\nPaths to Understanding\nthe Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement of Seattle University\n\n\nEvent co-sponsored by: Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral\, St. James Catholic Cathedral\, Temple De Hirsch Sinai\, First African Methodist Episcopal Church of Seattle\, and the Center for Ecumenical and Interreligious Engagement at Seattle University
