SUMMARY:Godly Play
DESCRIPTION:Between services on Sunday mornings\, we create space for children to deeply experience the texts and stories of the Bible that make us Christian people and form our faith. Classes are open to children in preschool through fifth grade and offer children the opportunity to grow in community with each other and caring adults. \nOn September 20\, the younger class will hear about the Holy Bible while the older class will learn about the Books of the Bible. \nGodly Play is a Montessori-based curriculum that recognizes that children are already in relationship with God. It invites them to wonder deeply about the core stories of scripture and imaginatively explore our liturgical traditions as it gives them practice in speaking the language of our Christian faith. \nLearn more and register your child here.

SUMMARY:Sunday Forum: The Visual Storytelling Project
DESCRIPTION:The Visual Storytelling Project is a museum-caliber set of eight panels that tell the story of housing discrimination and Black resilience in the neighborhoods in and around Capitol Hill. As the cathedral and its partners prepare to break ground on Cathedral Place\, a new Affordable Housing Community being planned on the site of the former St. Nicholas School\, the storyboard project will educate the community on the historic practices that continue to have a measurable impact on the neighborhood\, such as restrictive covenants and racial redlining. Using archival materials\, images\, maps\, graphics\, and narrative\, the exhibit tells a story of systemic injustices and the enduring strength and creativity of Seattle’s Black community. Additionally\, the storyboard is designed to empower viewers to take measurable action for repentance and repair. The Affordable Housing Committee will hold two opening presentations\, one during the Sunday Forum hour and one after the 11 a.m. service on September 20. \nAdditional interactive components provided through Saint Mark’s Intergenerational Ministries include a fair housing dollhouse and a collaborative neighborhood design project that guide participants of all ages in considering what Beloved Community needs to flourish.
