SUMMARY:A Day of Godly Play
DESCRIPTION:Led by the Rev. Canon Emily Griffin and Joy Studer\, Licensed Godly Play Trainers \nThrough a collaboration between the Diocese of Olympia and Saint Mark’s Cathedral\, we are pleased to offer a day of workshops for all: those who are new to this methodology and those who have been practicing for a long time. Join us for a day of learning\, community building\, and sharing best practices. After a full Godly Play session together\, we’ll offer an introductory track for new storytellers and doorpersons and a second track for those seeking to deepen their practice – with a focus on newer stories (such as the Lord’s Prayer and the Psalms) and tips for engaging older children. We’ll conclude the day together with a reflection on children’s spirituality and resources for parents and other caregivers. \nRegistration required; fee of $35 per person\, which includes continental breakfast and lunch. We don’t want cost to be a barrier to participation. DESCRIPTION:SATURDAYS\, 9:30 A.M. – 12 P.M\, Skinner Auditorium \nThe meeting is occasionally moved to Bloedel Hall. \nThose unable to attend in-person are also welcome to tune in via Zoom or YouTube livestream. \nSaint Mark’s Cathedral cathedral is the host this meeting of the Clear Mountain Buddhist Monastery community. \nJoin for a morning of meditation\, teaching\, and spiritual conversation over coffee! Each Saturday from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.\, local practitioners gather together in the Saint Mark’s Cathedral Skinner Auditorium (located in the St Nicholas School Building\, just north of the cathedral building\, 1501 10th Ave E.) for a community meditation\, teaching\, and coffee social. \nGatherings begin with a guided sit from 9:30–10 a.m. designed to accommodate and empower a wide variety of practices\, from Buddhist meditation to centering prayer. The morning continues with a Dhamma teaching and Q&A from 10–11 followed by a chance\, for those who want\, to discuss life and practice over coffee from 11–noon. DESCRIPTION:Forest Therapy Walks Celebrating the Season of Creation 2026\nThe Season of Creation is an annual\, international\, ecumenical celebration that encourages Christians worldwide to renew their relationship with God and all creation through prayer\, reflection\, and action. In 2026\, it begins on September 1\, recognized as the World Day of Prayer for Creation\, and concludes on October 4\, the Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi. \nIn honor of this special season\, Saint Mark’s is offering two Forest Therapy Walks that are open to all. Saturday\, September 26’s walk will be in Seward Park and Wednesday\, September 30’s walk will be in Kubota Garden. \nRegister here and contact Canon Rich Weyls with questions. There is no charge for the walk but a freewill offering will be accepted.
