SUMMARY:Sunday Forum: For Everything a Season Book Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Before Dean Steve left on sabbatical\, he asked the staff and vestry\, as well as the cathedral parish as a whole\, to read and discuss Joan Chittister’s For Everything a Season. As the staff and vestry reflect upon the seasons of our communal life\, it’s now time to open the circle wider. \nJoin Canon Emily Griffin and Senior Warden Julia Logan for either or both sessions as we explore how an understanding of the seasons of life—informed by Ecclesiastes 3—can impact both our personal and communal lives. We’ll focus on the first half of the book (through page 84) in our time together on June 14 and the remainder in our time together on June 21. A few hard copies are available in the parish office for a suggested $20 donation. While we highly recommend reading the book in advance\, we’ll provide enough context so that everyone can join us.

SUMMARY:Second Sunday Book Group
DESCRIPTION:In July\, the Second Sunday Book Group will discuss Culpability (2025) by Bruce Holsinger. In this fictional story\, a family has a collision in a self-driving car where three of the five family members are seriously injured and the two occupants in the car they collided with are killed. In the aftermath of this tragedy\, the author explores the family’s fragility and guilt\, the world of AI\, and who or what is responsible for the accident. There’s both legal and moral responsibility. Are they different? The wife and mother of the family happens to be a world-renowned AI ethicist who is writing a book on humanity’s responsibility for the morality of AI systems. Her theories have now come close to home.

SUMMARY:Midway Group Joins the Cathedral Tour
DESCRIPTION:Join Midway members for a kick off event of the program year by gathering as a group and taking the Cathedral Tour together. This is offered by a Cathedral docent for about an hour after the 11 a.m. service. It will be great to connect with friends old and new\, while learning more about this special place where we gather to worship. Jen Younggren and Kelly Lundquist will be there with their name tags on to greet you in the back after the service if you are looking for a friendly face. \nMidway (previously known as the 40s/50s group) offers opportunities for community and conversation with adults—singles\, couples\, parents or not—in the messy middle after young adulthood but before retirement. There is no strict age requirement—if you feel like you fit into the description of middle adulthood\, then you are welcome! \nContact Jen Younggren with questions.
