Canon Timothy Dombek is an Episcopal priest with over 31 years of experience in serving as lead pastor\, school chaplain and upper school instructor\, and associate priest for Episcopal congregations and Episcopal schools in Dallas\, Texas\, in Jenkinsville\, Columbia\, and Greenville\, South Carolina\, and Sun City West\, Arizona. Timothy also served six years as Canon to the Ordinary to the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona\, and three years as Canon for Stewardship and Planned Giving\, working on strategic planning and stewardship development (fundraising)\, planned giving\, and volunteer development in congregations in Arizona. \nHe has presented stewardship training in over 20 different dioceses of The Episcopal Church. In 2014\, along with co-author Mike Durall\, Canon Dombek wrote the book\, Making the Annual Pledge Drive Obsolete: How Churches Can Get Out of This Business Once and For All. Canon Dombek has been married for 34 years to his wife\, Beth\, and they have one adult son\, Jonathan\, who was born with Down syndrome.

The creek is burbling with water again and plants are putting out new growth in anticipation of fall rains. For those interested in spending time in the Greenbelt\, the loop trail is cleaned and trimmed weekly. Join us every Thursday from 6:15 p.m. until sunset for Bring-Your-Own-Tools Trail Brushing and Plant Identification as we prepare the trail for exciting things to come. Each Saturday from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.\, local practitioners gather together in the Saint Mark’s Cathedral Skinner Auditorium (located in the St Nicholas School Building\, just north of the cathedral building\, 1501 10th Ave E.) for a community meditation\, teaching\, and coffee social. \nGatherings begin with a guided sit from 9:30–10 a.m. designed to accommodate and empower a wide variety of practices\, from Buddhist meditation to centering prayer. The morning continues with a Dhamma teaching and Q&A from 10–11 followed by a chance\, for those who want\, to discuss life and practice over coffee from 11–noon. SUMMARY:St Francis Day Celebration and Blessing of the Animals
DESCRIPTION:SATURDAY\, OCTOBER 5\, 3:30 P.M. (activities)\, 4:40 P.M. (liturgy)\, on the front lawn and labyrinth \nOn Saturday\, October 5\, Saint Mark’s will once again offer its beloved Saint Francis Day tradition. A few years ago this offering was moved from Sunday morning to Saturday afternoon\, and the outdoor celebration has a truly festive community atmosphere. The cathedral extends a special invitation to folks in the neighborhood who may not usually attend Saint Mark’s. Dogs\, cats\, bird\, bunnies\, ponies\, chickens\, and all creatures great and small are welcome. \nNew this year: Professional Pet Photographer Julie Austin will be present offering to take free photos of animal friends\, starting at 3:30! The service at 4:30 p.m. includes prayers for healing humanity’s relationship with the earth\, and for all the creatures who share the earth with us. After the service\, animals can receive an individual blessing from a priest if desired. A festive reception with treats for pets and people will conclude the afternoon. \nAll are invited to attend\, with or without their animal companions. Stuffed animals are also welcome to be blessed\, as are photographs of pets who would not find attending the event a blessed experience. Animals should remain leashed or kenneled. You are welcome to bring your own chair to use on the lawn\, although chairs will also be provided.

DESCRIPTION:FIRST AND THIRD SUNDAYS OF THE MONTH\, 10–11 A.M.\, in the St Nicholas Building\, 2nd floor \nNote: Godly Play will NOT meet on November 3\, due to the Baptism celebration on All Saints’ Sunday. It will meet on the second Sunday of the months\, November 10\, instead. It will them meet on November 17 as usual. \nDeveloped over the course of the last 40 years\, Godly Play is a Montessori-informed curriculum and method of exploring the sacred stories and practices of our religious tradition in a way that creates a space for “listening to God with children.” \nRegular Godly Play gatherings for kids age 3 and up are offered on the first and third Sundays of the month in the 10 a.m. hour. Saint Mark’s offers two Godly Play groups: the Weavers’ Class (age 3 to grade 2) and the Fishers’ Class (grades 3 to 5).
