Fellowship and a community breakfast follow the service. \nUPDATE: The regular Thursday morning attendees have decided that their online service on the second and fourth Sundays of the month should merge with the online Daily Morning Prayer Group. On those Thursdays when there is not an in-person Eucharist\, gather online at 7:30 (rather than 7) using the normal Daily Office link. Contact quilting@saintmarks.org in advance if you plan to come that day\, to ensure someone will let you in to the building. \nThe Quilt Ministry of Saint Mark’s crafts beautiful\, one-of-a kind quilts for parishioners in times of illness or transition\, blessing quilts for staff or parish family departures\, small blankets for parish newborns\, and other occasions as requested by clergy. The ministry also does other sewing projects as needed\, such as tote bags\, ditty bags for Mission to Seafarers\, and even fabric elements of Sandy Nelson’s summer 2024 cathedral art installations. \nThe group gathers monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 210 to work on pieces together\, plan future projects\, and to share stories and a potluck lunch in community. We have sewing machines available\, and you don’t need to be able to sew already—there is plenty of work to do that can be easily taught. All are welcome\, of any age. DESCRIPTION:SPECIAL GODLY PLAY ON MAY 18 \nParishioners of all ages are invited to Bloedel Hall between the 9 and 11 a.m. services on Sunday morning May 18\, when Canon Emily Griffin will tell the Godly Play Story of The Church\, and in response\, children are invited to create and build with artist Sandy Nelson. This is an intergenerational opportunity to engage the themes of the Living Stones II Capital Campaign\, and the children’s art will be displayed at the all-parish banquet on Friday\, June 6. \n\nFIRST AND THIRD SUNDAYS OF THE MONTH\, 10–11 A.M.\, in the St Nicholas Building\, 2nd floor \nDeveloped over the course of the last 40 years\, Godly Play is a Montessori-informed curriculum and method of exploring the sacred stories and practices of our religious tradition in a way that creates a space for “listening to God with children.” \nRegular Godly Play gatherings for kids age 3 and up are offered on the first and third Sundays of the month in the 10 a.m. hour. Saint Mark’s offers two Godly Play groups: the Weavers’ Class (age 3 to grade 2) and the Fishers’ Class (grades 3 to 5). We will meet at the trailhead at 2:30 p.m. After the first 2 miles\, more adventurous hikers are welcome to continue along the trail\, while other folks turn back and perhaps choose to have an early supper together in nearby North Bend. Both the Northwest Forest Pass and the America the Beautiful Pass cover the fee\, or purchase a day pass online ahead of time for $5. Passes are not sold at the trailhead. Pack your own water. Potable water is not available at the trailhead. Pets on leash are welcome. (Our inspiration for this hike was this post!)
