SUMMARY:*Fremont Abbey presents: Charlie Cunningham\, LŪKΛ\, Halley Greg
DESCRIPTION:Charlie Cunningham\, LŪKΛ\, Halley Greg @ ST. MARK’S CATHEDRAL\n\nSat\, Aug 16\, 8pm – 10:30pm PDT \nSaint Mark’s Cathedral \n\n\n\nSeattle WA\, United States\n\n\n\n \nAbbey Arts Presents \n15947 followers  ·  Contact host(Opens in new tab)\n\n\n\n  \nGET TICKETS HERE\nEvent description\n\nCharlie Cunningham: www.charliecunningham.com\n“Charlie Cunningham has emerged as a truly under-the-radar success story. Splitting his time between piano and nylon string guitar\, Charlie’s melancholic yet rhythmically driven songs have seen him become a regular fixture in Europe’s most prestigious concert halls. \nDespite his dyslexia making it near impossible for him to read music\, Charlie earned a music degree and by his mid-20s worked a variety of odd jobs and wrote songs in his free time. Eventually\, he moved to Seville\, immersed himself in Flamenco music and focussed intensely on his guitar playing. Planning to stay for 3 months\, he stayed for 3 years. Once home\, Charlie found work playing in bars across London and Oxford —eventually returning to songwriting. Charlie has subsequently released 3 albums and 4 eps which have garnered over half a billion streams. \nThe new single\, **”Happening Lately”** produced by Luke Smith (Keaton Henson\, Foals\, Everything Everything)\, is the latest clue as to what is coming next for Cunningham. The track blends his signature intricate guitar work with poignant lyrics rich with introspective resilience.” – Artist Bio \nWith support from:\n  \nLŪKΛ: www.lukamusik.com\n“Patience for growth and the lush rewards that come with it. The difficulty of shedding former lives\, while hanging on to the lessons and appreciation of the process. LUKA writes songs of\, and for\, healing. Music that both feels rooted in the natural world\, as well as shimmers with blips of the technological. This balance and contrast creates a sonic environment that is both nostalgic and forward looking\, worn in and brand new. With moments that feel intimate and contained and moments that feel like they’re waiting on the collective for active participation. ” – Artist Bio \n  \nHalley Greg: www.halleygregmusic.com\n“Seattle singer-songwriter Halley Greg first rose to acclaim during the blind auditions on Season 20 of The Voice. John Legend called her slowed-down\, piano ballad version of Nelly Furtado’s “I’m Like a Bird” “poetic” and “beautifully crafted\,” and the performance earned her a spot on Team Kelly. Her appearance on the show coincided with the release of her debut album\, American Harlot\, a feminist rebranding of the pop/rock albums of the early 2000s. Filled with distorted guitar solos and pithy pop vocal melodies\, the album is an ode to empowered women everywhere—a rock and rage romp with a few upbeat bops and heart-wrenching ballads thrown in for good measure. The first line from the title track exemplifies Greg’s brand of sultry\, cutthroat sass: “Welcome home dear / Take off your shoes / I’ll massage your feet and your ego\, too.” American Harlot received acclaim from Seattle press and was featured on Talking Tracks\, a podcast by Seattle music publication Dan’s Tunes. \nWhile American Harlot mostly confines Greg’s anger to personal epithets\, her sophomore release\, recorded with Eric Lilavois at London Bridge Studio (Pearl Jam\, Dave Matthews Band)\, is a critique and catharsis of America’s spiciest socio-political controversies. Aptly titled Straitjacket\, the album takes on issues from gun violence to systemic racism. Greg’s pure and ethereal voice cuts through raucous guitar riffs\, while her lyrics are so thick with social critique they’re almost punk. Think the clarity of Regina Spektor\, the attitude of No Doubt\, and the arrangements of Paramore. \nThe release of Greg’s newest single\, “Ma Petite Voleuse\,” will mark a distinct shift in musical vibe—less rock\, more pop; less serious\, more silly. Flexing her production skills and ready to put the anger aside for a while\, Halley Greg is actively reshaping her brand into a more joyful\, fun\, sexy form. See if you can listen to the song without starting to groove.” – Artist Bio \n  \n  \n@ St Mark’s Cathedral\, Seattle\n7p doors\, 8p show\nAll ages\, seating available \nBar w/ ID + elixir bar. Profits to local music & non-profits (thanks to the generosity of our local sponsors) \n  \n————————————————————————– \nCATHEDRALS CONCERTS SERIES\nPRESENTED BY ABBEY ARTS\, SEATTLE\nAn open floor concert experience\, quiet picnics welcome\, no outside alcohol allowed. SUMMARY:Organ by Night (10:10 p.m)
DESCRIPTION:THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH\, 10:10 P.M. (immediately following Compline)\, in the cathedral nave and in the organ loft \nThe tradition of informal mini-concerts on the Flentrop following Compline have introduced generations of Seattleites to the power and beauty of a real pipe organ. All are welcome to listen in the nave\, or join the organist in the loft to see what playing an instrument of this size is really like. (The radio program The Organ Loft\, which airs on KING-FM immediately following Compline each week\, was inspired by this tradition.) A Q&A in the loft usually follows the performance. \nFind a list of past and upcoming recitalists here. \nThe new iteration of this offering\, called Organ by Night\, will be offered once a month\, on the third Sunday of each month.

SUMMARY:Organ by Night (10:10 p.m)
DESCRIPTION:THIRD SUNDAY OF EACH MONTH\, 10:10 P.M. (immediately following Compline)\, in the cathedral nave and in the organ loft \n \nMark McDonald will offer this month’s Organ by Night music. He presently serves as Instructor of Organ at the University of Victoria and as Assistant Director of Music at Christ Church Cathedral in Victoria\, British Columbia\, Canada. He will play works by Dieterich Buxtehude\, Louis Vierne\, Gustav Holst\, and Hans Zimmer. \n  \nThe tradition of informal mini-concerts on the Flentrop following Compline have introduced generations of Seattleites to the power and beauty of a real pipe organ.
