(Door are locked at the beginning of class at 6:30 p.m.)\nYOGA CLASS 6:30–7:30 P.M. \nIn the sacred space of Saint Mark’s Cathedral\, this spiritual practice is designed to improve health\, release tension\, and deepen spirituality. It is a gentle\, restorative\, and contemplative practice\, and the instructors guide the group in ways that welcome newcomer and experienced practitioners alike. \n\nPay what you can.\nMats are available to borrow (first come\, first served).\nThe doors into the cathedral are opened at 6 p.m. and then locked at 6:30 p.m.\nOn the third Monday of each month the class ends with an extended savasana with Sound Bath\, 7:30–7:45 p.m. As the doors are locked at 6:30\, it is no longer possible to attend the sound bath without attending the class. Each Saturday from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.\, local practitioners gather together in the Saint Mark’s Cathedral Skinner Auditorium (located in the St Nicholas School Building\, just north of the cathedral building\, 1501 10th Ave E.) for a community meditation\, teaching\, and coffee social. \nGatherings begin with a guided sit from 9:30–10 a.m. designed to accommodate and empower a wide variety of practices\, from Buddhist meditation to centering prayer. The morning continues with a Dhamma teaching and Q&A from 10–11 followed by a chance\, for those who want\, to discuss life and practice over coffee from 11–noon. Registration required \nCanon Wendy Barrie\, in collaboration with leaders from the Godly Play Foundation and frm the Diocese of Olympia have planned a wonder-filled Godly Play in-service day! If you’re new to this methodology or a long-time practitioner\, we hope you’ll join us for education\, renewal\, and community building. This event represents a collaboration between the Diocese of Olympia\, the Godly Play Foundation\, and Saint Mark’s Cathedral. Our day-long agenda is packed with good things! Break-out session will include and Introduction & Overview (for those new to Godly Play)\, and a Best Practices Exchange & Refresher (for experienced practitioners). We’ll also spend time together exploring new stories and other advances at the Godly Play Foundation\, including the “Beloved Me/Beloved We” project\, the results of a recent equity audit\, and the “Every Day Godly Play” initiative. A Materials Exchange will allow participants to swap supplies. In 2002\, Vienna released her debut album Waking Hour\, landing her on NPR’s Weekend Edition\, The Late Show with David Letterman\, and the top of Amazon’s music charts. Four more albums followed\, most recently Aims in 2013\, which became the first album to win four Independent Music Awards. She also composed the music for The Fourth Messenger by playwright Tanya ShaTer\, which premiered in 2013 and was a featured production in the 2017 New York Musical Theater Festival. Together with Vienna’s captivating live performances and thoughtful online presence\, her work has built a devoted following across generations and continents. \nStill\, other pursuits have always beckoned. A computer science major before she was a recording artist\, Vienna is a nerd at heart\, as comfortable in spreadsheets as the spotlight. She returned to academia in 2010 to study environmental sustainability\, which led to a new career working on climate change\, energy and waste issues. She also became a bonus parent to her partner’s two kids\, and in early 2020 welcomed a newborn addition to the family – just in time for pandemic lockdown. \n“I learned a lot about what it means to hold two truths in your head at the same time\, as the saying goes\,” Vienna says of that period. “The situation can be dire and full of possibility. Merging the talents of conservatory trained musicians in New York City\, Founders is re-defining the role of the classical ensemble for the next generation. \nFounders began in 2014 through the collaborative efforts of Ben Russell (violin/vocals) and Brandon Ridenour (trumpet/piano). From the beginning\, they pioneered bringing the composer back onto the stage\, assembling an ensemble of prize-winning performers\, writers and arrangers. In 2015 they co-produced their first album\, You & Who which the New York Music Daily stated\, “Their excellent debut album… is like nothing else out there right now.” In 2018\, Founders recorded selected works from their American Excursions program\, highlighting composers\, folk musics\, and poets from American history. This multifaceted project celebrates the rich diversity of American culture\, while accentuating the unique strength of Founders as a composing ensemble. \nFounders passionately advocates training the next generation of musicians to expand their breadth of creative possibilities. Founders are frequently artists in residence at schools where they present various workshops including Crucial Habits for Songwriters/Composers; Innovative Arranging; and The Classical Improvisor. DESCRIPTION:EVERY MONDAY\, in the cathedral nave \nDOORS OPEN AT 6 P.M. (Door are locked at the beginning of class at 6:30 p.m.)\nYOGA CLASS 6:30–7:30 P.M. \nIn the sacred space of Saint Mark’s Cathedral\, this spiritual practice is designed to improve health\, release tension\, and deepen spirituality. It is a gentle\, restorative\, and contemplative practice\, and the instructors guide the group in ways that welcome newcomer and experienced practitioners alike. \n\nPay what you can.\nMats are available to borrow (first come\, first served).\nThe doors into the cathedral are opened at 6 p.m. and then locked at 6:30 p.m.\nOn the third Monday of each month the class ends with an extended savasana with Sound Bath\, 7:30–7:45 p.m. As the doors are locked at 6:30\, it is no longer possible to attend the sound bath without attending the class.
