Each Saturday from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.\, local practitioners gather together in the Saint Mark’s Cathedral Skinner Auditorium (located in the St Nicholas School Building\, just north of the cathedral building\, 1501 10th Ave E.) for a community meditation\, teaching\, and coffee social. \nGatherings begin with a guided sit from 9:30–10 a.m. designed to accommodate and empower a wide variety of practices\, from Buddhist meditation to centering prayer. It will them meet on November 17 as usual. \nDeveloped over the course of the last 40 years\, Godly Play is a Montessori-informed curriculum and method of exploring the sacred stories and practices of our religious tradition in a way that creates a space for “listening to God with children.” \nRegular Godly Play gatherings for kids age 3 and up are offered on the first and third Sundays of the month in the 10 a.m. hour. Here in Seattle\, dances are welcoming to all levels\, with musicians playing lively and lyrical music. Anyone can learn to dance\, and all dances are called by a dance leader (similar to square dancing). No need to bring a partner! If you can line-dance\, you can English dance! SUMMARY:Opening Plenary for Radix 13: The Shalom of God—Towards a True and Lasting Peace
DESCRIPTION:OPENING PLENARY: SUNDAY\, OCTOBER 20\, 7–8 P.M.\, online via Zoom only \nSMALL GROUPS MEET: ONCE A WEEK STARTING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 21\, THROUGH NOVEMBER 27\, via Zoom or in person\, registration required \nLaunched in January 0f 2020\, The Radix Project has creates a unique opportunity for hundreds of participants to gather in small groups\, share stories\, reflect on Holy Scripture and sacred art\, and pray for one another with intention. This fall’s iteration\, the thirteenth since its launch\, will be on the subject of peacemaking. In this time when our hearts long for peace in the world\, the next Radix series will look to scripture passages that address what is means to be peacemakers\, and the nature of peace in its various forms—brokered peace\, imperial “peace\,” inner peace\, and the nature of “shalom” which is the replete peace of God to which the world leans in a long\, hopeful arc. DESCRIPTION:EVERY MONDAY\, in the cathedral nave \nDOORS OPEN AT 6 P.M. (Door are locked at the beginning of class at 6:30 p.m.)\nYOGA CLASS 6:30–7:30 P.M. \nIn the sacred space of Saint Mark’s Cathedral\, this spiritual practice is designed to improve health\, release tension\, and deepen spirituality. It is a gentle\, restorative\, and contemplative practice\, and the instructors guide the group in ways that welcome newcomer and experienced practitioners alike. \n\nPay what you can.\nMats are available to borrow (first come\, first served).\nThe doors into the cathedral are opened at 6 p.m. and then locked at 6:30 p.m.\nOn the third Monday of each month the class ends with an extended savasana with Sound Bath\, 7:30–7:45 p.m. As the doors are locked at 6:30\, it is no longer possible to attend the sound bath without attending the class. Through the stories of Americans across the US\, this film examines the question of whether or not love\, specifically—unselfish—love\, is the solution to the extreme societal and political divide facing the world.
