(Door are locked at the beginning of class at 6:30 p.m.)\nYOGA CLASS 6:30–7:30 P.M. \nIn the sacred space of Saint Mark’s Cathedral\, this spiritual practice is designed to improve health\, release tension\, and deepen spirituality. It is a gentle\, restorative\, and contemplative practice\, and the instructors guide the group in ways that welcome newcomer and experienced practitioners alike. \n\nPay what you can.\nMats are available to borrow (first come\, first served).\nThe doors into the cathedral are opened at 6 p.m. and then locked at 6:30 p.m.\nOn the third Monday of each month the class ends with an extended savasana with Sound Bath\, 7:30–7:45 p.m. As the doors are locked at 6:30\, it is no longer possible to attend the sound bath without attending the class. We’ve chosen two books by Matthew Desmond\, Evicted from 2016 and Poverty\, by America\, published in 2023. \nThanks to a grant from the Episcopal Periodical Society\, there are copies of both books available for anyone in the cathedral community for free. Books will be available to pick up on Sundays in the nave and in the church office during the week. \nAlso available through the same grant is I See You\, a wordless picture book published by the American Psychological Association intended to open a door for kids and parents to begin a conversation about homelessness. I See You is available for families with children and comes with resources for parents\, educators\, and neighbors. \nBook groups (in person and online) to discuss Evicted will be held in January. DESCRIPTION:FRIDAY\, JANUARY 10\, 2025\, 6:30–8:30P.M. and SATURDAY\, JANUARY 11\, 2025\, 9:30A.M.–2:30P.M.\, in person and via Zoom \nFACILITATED BY DR. JOSEPH BENTON HOWELL\, PH.D. \nThis three-part workshop will approach the Spirituality of the Enneagram in ways we have not previously considered in the Wisdom School. Friday evening’s session will use the foundational concept of the soul child to describe the nine types with specific egoic reactions that come when disconnected from our original goodness. We will explore each type’s pride\, virtue\, avoidance\, trap\, and passion as portals into the spiritual journey of life. Saturday morning will explore inner dynamic flow\, wings\, and levels of consciousness\, and we will delve into experiential exercises with our respective personality types. After lunch\, participants will explore the soul’s essential qualities for spiritual development through guided meditations and interactive exercises.  This last part is highlighted in Dr. Howell’s latest book\, Know Your Soul. Each Saturday from 9:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.\, local practitioners gather together in the Saint Mark’s Cathedral Skinner Auditorium (located in the St Nicholas School Building\, just north of the cathedral building\, 1501 10th Ave E.) for a community meditation\, teaching\, and coffee social. \nGatherings begin with a guided sit from 9:30–10 a.m. designed to accommodate and empower a wide variety of practices\, from Buddhist meditation to centering prayer. The morning continues with a Dhamma teaching and Q&A from 10–11 followed by a chance\, for those who want\, to discuss life and practice over coffee from 11–noon. In this Wednesday forum led Canon Barrie\, participants will explore what the Creeds are (and what they are not)\, ask where they come from and how they came to be central to our worship practice\, look at some alternative creeds\, and finally try crafting our own.
