Radix 12—Holy Movement: Exploring Journey and Pilgrimage in Scripture

Sunday groups begin April 28 and conclude on June 2. *New* meeting time this season—Sundays at 12:30 p.m.
Our Scriptures abound with stories of holy movement—people guided by the Spirit’s call to strike out on a journey to discover God, discover oneself anew, and to see the world with fresh eyes. Radix 12 will draw from six scripture passages that bear witness to how a journey changed their lives, and by extension, all who have followed in their footsteps as people of faith.

FALL 2023
Radix 11—Courageous Ancestors of Faith: Ruth & Esther
OPENING PLENARY: SUNDAY, OCTOBER 15, 7–8:30 P.M., online via Zoom only
SMALL GROUPS MEET: ONCE A WEEK STARTING THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 16, THROUGH NOVEMBER 26. Groups will meet online via Zoom OR in person. Registration required; deadline to register October 4.
Sunday groups begin October 22 and conclude on November 26. Thursday groups will not meet on Thanksgiving, and will have their final meeting on November 30.
The Radix Project is an opportunity to gather in small groups, share their stories, reflect on Holy Scripture and sacred art, and pray for one another with intention. The project was created to provide a way to connect in a setting that fosters trust, so that our relationships with God and one another are strengthened. This Fall, the theme for Radix 11 is Courageous Ancestors of Faith: Ruth & Esther.

This Eastertide, the theme for Radix 10 is Gratitude.

JANUARY–FEBRUARY 2023
Radix 9: Hope in Hard Times
The ninth iteration of The Radix Project was offered over six weeks, starting the week of January 8, 2023. (Sunday groups concluded on February 19.)
As Christians, we are called to be people of hope, but what does that mean? In the face of so many challenges—globally, ecologically, economically, socially, and individually—it can be difficult to avoid falling prey to cynicism or even despair. Our scriptures are replete with words of encouragement that do not deny the struggles and suffering of life while also offering a buoyant resilience that is nourished by expectant hope—not that God will swoop in and sweep it all away, but that God is stirring in this world with us, and has endowed us with gifts that sustain us until we are primed to see (really see!) the brilliant inbreaking of the holy and healing presence of God’s hope in us, for us, and for all creation. We discover this beautiful truth in community, and Radix groups are designed to help us consider what that looks like. All are welcome and encouraged to participate in a Radix small group.

Radix 8: Creation, Community, and Connection
This fall, the theme for Radix 8, Creation, Community, and Connection, will draw from scriptures that invite us to consider how creation itself may inform our relationship to God and each other.
The eighth iteration of The Radix Project will be offered over six weeks, starting the week of September 18, through the week October 23, 2022. (Sunday groups conclude on October 30.)

Radix 4: Stories of Salvation

Opening Plenary: What Is God Up To in All “This”?
SUNDAY, JANUARY 24, 2021, 7 P.M. (note evening time!), via Zoom
The Easter Vigil is the apical liturgy of the entire year, weaving a rich tapestry of scriptural stories, the ritualized confluence of grace found in Baptism and Eucharist celebrated on this most holy night, and a textured choreography of music and movement meant to inspire us for the journey. Radix 4 groups are forming now, with a focus drawing on select scriptures from the Easter Vigil that tell the story of God’s engagement with humanity and all creation. We need these stories now as ever—what is God up to in all “this?” What does scripture have to say about our experiences and the meaning we make as we turn into a new year. All are welcome, whether or not you intend to participate in the small groups.

Radix 2: Post-Resurrection Narratives

Radix 1: Small Groups, Deep Roots
The first iteration of The Radix Project, pre-pandemic, was not organized around a specific theme. The six weekly meetings were organized around the topics of: Belonging, Listening, Hardship, Belovedness, Living Stones, and Radical inclusion.
