DESCRIPTION:In July\, the Second Sunday Book Group will discuss Culpability (2025) by Bruce Holsinger. In this fictional story\, a family has a collision in a self-driving car where three of the five family members are seriously injured and the two occupants in the car they collided with are killed. In the aftermath of this tragedy\, the author explores the family’s fragility and guilt\, the world of AI\, and who or what is responsible for the accident. There’s both legal and moral responsibility. Are they different? The wife and mother of the family happens to be a world-renowned AI ethicist who is writing a book on humanity’s responsibility for the morality of AI systems. Her theories have now come close to home.

DESCRIPTION:THIRD THURSDAYS\, 10 A.M.–2 P.M.\, in Cathedral House Room Room 210  \nSuspended on August 21\, 2025 \nThe Quilt Ministry of Saint Mark’s crafts beautiful\, one-of-a kind quilts for parishioners in times of illness or transition\, blessing quilts for staff or parish family departures\, small blankets for parish newborns\, and other occasions as requested by clergy. The ministry also does other sewing projects as needed\, such as tote bags\, ditty bags for Mission to Seafarers\, and even fabric elements of Sandy Nelson’s summer 2024 cathedral art installations. \nThe group gathers monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 210 to work on pieces together\, plan future projects\, and to share stories and a potluck lunch in community. We have sewing machines available\, and you don’t need to be able to sew already—there is plenty of work to do that can be easily taught. All are welcome\, of any age. It’s also possible to participate in projects from home without attending the group gatherings. If you’d like to learn more or get involved\, email: quilting@saintmarks.org

DESCRIPTION:THIRD THURSDAYS\, 10 A.M.–2 P.M.\, in Cathedral House Room Room 210  \nSuspended on August 21\, 2025 \nThe Quilt Ministry of Saint Mark’s crafts beautiful\, one-of-a kind quilts for parishioners in times of illness or transition\, blessing quilts for staff or parish family departures\, small blankets for parish newborns\, and other occasions as requested by clergy. The ministry also does other sewing projects as needed\, such as tote bags\, ditty bags for Mission to Seafarers\, and even fabric elements of Sandy Nelson’s summer 2024 cathedral art installations. \nThe group gathers monthly on the third Thursday of the month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Room 210 to work on pieces together\, plan future projects\, and to share stories and a potluck lunch in community. We have sewing machines available\, and you don’t need to be able to sew already—there is plenty of work to do that can be easily taught. All are welcome\, of any age. DESCRIPTION:SUNDAY\, SEPTEMBER 21\, 10:10-10:50 A.M.\, in Cathedral House Room 210  \nTeenagers (13-18) who want to dig deeper into their own spirituality and beliefs are encouraged to join the 2025-26 Youth Confirmation cohort. All interested teens and their parents are invited to a Confirmation Informational Meeting to learn more about class schedule\, commitment\, and curriculum. Parents welcomed as well. Just as you don’t need to be sure you want to participate in the class to attend the meeting\, you don’t need to be sure you want to be confirmed in the Episcopal Church to enroll in the class!
