DESCRIPTION:  \nFor the last two years\, the Rev. Alison Leary has been our seminarian and a faithful ministry partner. She has been a steady pastoral and liturgical presence among us and has assisted with the Women’s Retreat for the last three years. Alison was ordained to the transitional diaconate last December\, recently graduated from the General Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity\, and will be starting as the Curate at Trinity Parish in Seattle on July 1. \nHer last day serving as a transitional Deacon at Saint Mark’s will be Sunday\, June 21. DESCRIPTION:All are invited to join a special Interfaith Prayer Liturgy in the style of Taizé\, co-hosted by Saint Mark’s Taizé Ministry and our neighbors Clear Mountain Monastery Buddhist Community (who meet on the cathedral campus every Saturday morning). The theme of the prayer service\, Living Buddha\, Living Christ\, Living Spirit\, celebrates the values that both traditions hold as sacred\, represented by the “fruit of the Spirit” in Galatians\, and the perfections (parami) of character necessary in Buddhism to achieve enlightenment. \nThis service was inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh’s book Living Buddha\, Living Christ. Prayers\, readings and chants from both the Christian and Buddhist traditions will highlight the service. \nOn Sunday\, June 7\, we will hold a special Sunday Forum at 10:10 a.m. in Bloedel Hall\, where we’ll be joined by members of Clear Mountain to talk more about our partnership and preview the chants and songs for the service. \nWatch Recording

Contemplative Prayer is also occasionally suspended or relocated on other Tuesdays due to other events and conflicts in the nave.  \n \nTuesday evening Contemplative Prayer gatherings begin with a period of silent meditation\, followed by discussions on a variety of contemplative practices including Centering Prayer \nThis time of meditative prayer is open to anyone who yearns for a time to simply sit in the presence of the Divine—whether you sit regularly and miss doing it with others\, are curious\, or think you can’t do it\, come\, sit together and talk about it. There is no doing it right or wrong; there is only doing it. It is a gentle\, restorative\, and contemplative practice\, and the instructors guide the group in ways that welcome newcomer and experienced practitioners alike. \n\nPay what you can.\nMats are available to borrow (first come\, first served).\nThe doors into the cathedral are opened at 6 p.m. and then locked at 6:30 p.m.\nOn the third Monday of each month the class ends with an extended savasana with Sound Bath\, 7:30–7:45 p.m. As the doors are locked at 6:30\, it is no longer possible to attend the sound bath without attending the class.
