Quilt Ministry

Saint Mark’s Quilt Ministry grew out of a project to make 90 quilts for rooms at Canaday House, a supportive housing facility named to honor a late parishioner. We make quilts for parishioners in times of illness or end-of-life, blessing quilts for staff or parish family departures, small blankets for parish newborns and their slightly older siblings, and other occasions as determined by clergy. We meet once a month to gather in community to sew and finish quilts and other projects, share stories, and enjoy a potluck lunch. All are welcome to join, even those who don’t sew or quilt. We have sewing machines available, and there are always easy tasks that help support this ministry.

Saint Mark's Quilting Ministry is partnering with the Visual Arts Ministry to bring a quilt exhibit to the cathedral nave in January 2027. We invite quilters from across the Episcopal Church in Western Washington to submit their original works reflecting our theme: “The Joy of Creating.” Registration closes October 23, 2026.
