PENTECOST
June 8, 2025 is the Feast of Pentecost, marking the end of our fifty-day celebration of Easter. (Pentecost literally means “fiftieth day.”) We remember the moment in the book of Acts when the Holy Spirit descended onto the apostles like tongues of flame, inspiring them to to speak in many languages, and we celebrate God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to the whole Church.
The cathedral will observe the Feast of Pentecost with special intention, and in 2025 there will be three baptisms (one at 9 a.m. and two at 11 a.m.). Everyone is encouraged to wear red, the traditional color of the Holy Spirit, as a tangible sign of our celebratory witness.
The Pentecost celebration continues with the annual cathedral tradition of the Pentecost Run/Ride/Roll in Seward Park, starting at 3 p.m. Sunday afternoon, and concludes with the Office of Compline for Pentecost at 9:30 p.m.
