Terra Exhibition

The huge 24-foot diameter Terra globe will be suspended in the center of the cathedral nave, brightly illuminated from within and slowly revolving on its tilted axis. Featuring NASA’s Blue Marble satellite imagery, Terra is the largest and most visually authentic world globe created by Eric Morris of Orbis World Globes. The globe was fabricated by Rainier Industries in Tukwila, WA, and the exhibition is produced by Ben Browner of Revival Gatherings and hosted by Saint Mark’s Cathedral.

Terra’s creator, Eric, considers the globe to be a “beacon of unity.” Visitors are invited to experience a version of “the overview effect”—an exhilarating shift in perspective that astronauts have described when they see the Earth as it actually appears from space, without boundaries or place names. This experience inspires empathy as viewers consider our common humanity and connection with all of creation.

Saint Mark’s Cathedral will be open the following days for public viewing of the globe:
