    In-person Wednesday Evening Prayer

    EVERY WEDNESDAY, 5:30–6 P.M., in McCaw Chapel (behind the altar in the cathedral nave) Gather in McCaw Chapel—the space in the cathedral nave behind the altar platform, beneath the rose window. Whatever your prior experience with the Daily Office, come and pray together in community. Attendees can head down to the community dinner in Bloedel Hall at 6 p.m. immediately following the service, and are encouraged to stick around for a Cathedral Commons forum if one is scheduled. Lay readers from Seattle-area congregations including the cathedral lead a spoken service of daily prayer following the form of the Book of Common Prayer 1979, every weekday evening at 6 p.m. The service lasts approximately 30 minutes. Evening Prayer is always cancelled when the cathedral office is closed for holidays or other reasons, or when a special liturgy is being offered in the nave on a weekday evening.

    On most Wednesday nights, a delicious dinner is served in Bloedel Hall from 6 to 6:30. (Note: Food service ends at 6:30 p.m., sharp.) On Summer Hiatus in June, July, and August $6/child; $8/adult; $25/max. family Cathedral Commons programs often follow at 6:45 p.m.

    Liturgy with sermon and hymns. Music is offered by Saint Mark’s Singers or children’s choirs. Children’s Chapel is offered during the 9 a.m. service. After the Gospel is proclaimed, children pre-school through 2nd grade are invited to Thomsen Chapel for Bible stories, singing, and prayer. Parents are welcome to join their children.
