More About Donna Jean's Place
Donna Jean's Place is a 20 bed women’s shelter housed in the St. Nicholas building on the Saint Mark’s Cathedral campus. Women are transported at 7 p.m. nightly to shelter and must exit the space by 7 a.m.. Each night, the Operation Nightwatch dispatch center sends up a hot meal for the shelter residents. They have a case manager assigned to the shelter who assists with housing searches, medical appointments, mental health awareness ID and social security procurement.
Currently, volunteers support paid staff on Tuesday and Friday evenings from 7:15 p.m.-845 p.m.. The clients are not forced to interact, the volunteers are willing to play games, participate in arts and crafts or just general engagement. Additionally, they have a medical team that comes onsite three Thursday a month.
Volunteers are needed to work in the shelter space at Saint Mark's for three-hour shifts in the evening, 8:30–11:30 p.m. In addition, volunteer shuttle van drivers are needed from 7pm-830 p.m. Another opportunity is to provide "to go" breakfasts for our guests. For more details about these jobs, or if you are interested in attending the rescheduled work party, or would like to get involved in other ways, contact Operation Nightwatch Volunteer Coordinator Michelle Aguilar Ramirez at: michelle@seattlenightwatch.org
