Olivier Messiaen composed his sublime Quatour pour la fin du Temps in 1941 while captive in a Nazi prisoner of war camp. Considered to be one of the masterpieces of the 20th century, it is a deeply spiritual work contemplating the power of faith, hope and love to transcend time itself.
