The Questions Easter Asks Us: A Palm Saturday Event for All Ages

with 4 Comments

SATURDAY, APRIL 12, 4 P.M., in the cathedral nave

Canon Emily Griffin and pianist David Poortinga will lead us using art, story, and song through the life of Jesus as we prepare to enter Holy Week.

The Godly Play story usually shared over the weeks of Lent, The Faces of Easter, will be told in large scale, and familiar hymns and tunes will be woven throughout with opportunities to sing, wonder, and pray together as we reflect on the journey to the cross and the mystery of the Resurrection.

I’ve not been as financially broke on Easter as I am now. I don’t know if 40 days without cash is something to give up on Lent, but nearly that I have since February. I visit St. Mark’s online almost every Sunday and find the ritual of service online stabilizing for my week. The Sermon gives me a theme to think about all week until the following Sunday, and it strengthens my heart with wisdom as I see and hear examples of the Sunday Sermon/Service till the following Sunday. My heart feels empty when I miss a Sermon online. I live in Des Moines, WA., which is too far to be present at the Cathedral by bus and without a car. The online service has been beautiful, and the camerawork has been great. The Choir and Organ strengthen my ears for the week. Thank you, gregbgh

The Easter began with Mardigraa music with a band that knew how to play the spirit of Easter with palms that danced to the band’s rhythm. The people walking banners were beautiful when blown by the wind outside and inside the church. The camera crew caught it all very well.

I was corrected to understand that April 14th is Palm Sunday. I’ll change all my 14th comments to that point and look forward to next Sunday.
